My Maga don Pay

I cannot believe this. So..im chilling in my room..reading my favorite mag- company-gidilounge playing naija music in the background(just discoverd the website..nxt thing..i was hearing something..im like..uhn?? look at the name of the song..'maga don pay'..lyrics..'you can have anything you want, because my mage don pay'..'everyday, day and nite, my boys dey on system..not God don bless us'...'*my maga don pay..shout halleluyah..mugu don pay..shout halleluyah...halleluyah'....pls..spare a couple of mins and just listen to part of the song on youtube. I think it is the ABSOLUTE height of stupidity!! as in really!! I know some people may say im being uptight..its just a joke and all..but seriously??

I love my country..i really do..but how can i continue to defend it when ignorant people like this go around singing halleluyah because the mugu paid! gee!! i dont even know wat to say anymore..

*the idiot has paid

xx

Unfortunately, stuff like this only serves to further radicalize the youth - glorifying the ill gotten wealth that is 419sm... and attempting to make it hip... Nigeria obviously needs a mental reviatalization ASAP...

My dear, u know i was actually goin to do a post cuz of this song when i first heard it.

It truly is sad that these r the kind of things Nigerians still find to sing about even with all the bad name we have internationally. It is even worse than the "yahozee" song that got to Oprah!

One guy actually did a review abt the song on his blog only for some idiot to call him out on it, claiming that the guy was shouting halleluyah for the breakthrough in his music career. Like how stupid is that, when we can clearly hear the lyrics and even the video sef.

The beat/tune is actually catchy, so i see it getting a lot of airplay and catching on, but is this really the message we need to be spreading???

Don't worry I have it on good authority that the song will be banned on the airwaves soon.

That's just the height. Foolish boys!
His name is Kelly Handsome and I learnt he went to Igbinedion University. If a supposedly enlightened graduate can descend this low I wonder how our future will be.

Possibly funded his studies - or extra curricular activities via that medium.. silly boy...

I beg to differ and not because am tryin to be naive... I actually know and love that song. I don't think it should agitate anyone so much, seeing that is not something to be taken seriously. If he is talking about his illegal ways of making money, he is only glorifying it for himself. The song should just be enjoyed without, wearing it down with all the negative issues that plague our country.

It's just a song, i think we maybe attaching too many strings to it.
@lusciousron: about the song being banned, if yahozee wasn't, i doubt it will happen with this.

that's just my opinion though

Saw the video yesterday and the guy was rambling about having so much money that the problem is just how to spend it. Imagine.
Er ist krank!

What?! Someone produced that song and it got air play????
I guess it was yahoozee that set the pace for them.

I know that song and although it has a nice dance rhythm to it, i didnt like the message too. Musicians should be more careful with the message they are sending out.

the use of the word hallelujah just pisseed me off the first day i heard it, and i never wanted to listen to it from the start but i was on gidilounge too and it came one.

FOOLISHNESS!!! like father like son.

omg!!! i totally agree with you. that song is the bane of my existence. im dressing up in the morning, listening to suddenly, then good or bad then arghhh...."ugly bitch..." maga don pay comes on. i hate it. gidilounge needs to take that obscenity off asap.

The song might even be banned just like "I go chop your dollar" was banned.

Hiphop does the same with drugs and all so wannabee 9jans will copy of course. I hated the yahozee video 100$Benjamins and all. At least wierd MC's video had Naira notes. Lol!

Its embarrassing but Hallelujah? Its like pastors praying and fasting for armed robers or assasins giving testimony. Kai!

Just yesterday, the video came up on tv, just as i saw the title of the song i changed the channel instantly!

As much as he might have recorded the song as a joke, it still adds to the stigma nigerians face.

I aint Nigerian, but somehow I do understand what Yahooze and these songs are all about...this one, it was the 'Hallelujah' part that me and my girls didnt get..why?Praise God for that??...

As sad as that song rings in my ears, it is true. While it is wrong to celebrate such putrescence, i believe the songwriter, like Olu Maintain (Yahooze) and Eedris (Nigeria Jaggajagga) before him, are just talking about the sad state of Nigeria. Though, what we'd rather have them do is launder our image, and not put us in a showglass with our dirty linens hanging...They should also talk about the great things and great Nigerians doing real good stuff.

It ain't right but it's real. Deal with with it. You guys listen to 2Pac, Biggie, etc. I'd say u didn't have a problem with them singing about what they do or used to do. Criticize the song straight up. Quit moralizing.

Having said that. Kelly Handsome is done. What the hell will he sing next.......?!!

I see the music as a message to stop the act, creating awareness. These western world rapers sing about shooting, robbery, gambling and prostitution,no one say anything but sing about scam,it is a crime. Is it because it's Nigerian? The western world also engage in scam. There is a lot on this that you have to understand before you crucify these artists.

People,
i love this song like Micheal Jackson's smooth criminal!!!

I'd go on for weeks if i have to continue writing. The west robbed us of too much human potential. trust me, as long as the person being scammed is from the continents that participated in the slave trade, this yahoo boys can continue till Jesus comes back.
Quote me anywhere. Yes! I said it.
and what aches the most is they keep stealing: fueling wars everywhere, and selling arms etc.
these guys will keep scamming people till order is restored.
how many young african can leave school and sure to find a job?
i dont want to get too angry here. I might break this pc.
peace out

me.

Ps: and i totally agree below.

maybe some of you are just been jealous of this guy, what about obie trice and akon singing about successfully rubbing a bank and many more...
i think the problem with us is that we have been assimilated by the western world to the extend that every bad thing they do is good while any bad thing we do to them is hell.shame on us
